Cybernetics

Cybernetics, the technology of linking a machine to a person’s Body while still retaining the original capabilities and more.

Over the years, people have been fascinated with the Idea of having a artificial limb or a organ to replace something that was either to damaged.

In the world of Legend of the Swordsmen, Cybernetics come in a wide ferity of colors and flavors. Ranging from a single Prosthetic eye to full body enhancements. Synthetic muscles can also be classed as a high level of Cybernetics seeing as a created object or contraption is replacing something a person is born with.

Thomas’ Eye

Sora Futuba Dutch made a name for herself by designing the first Cybernetic eye which had been successfully fitted to her husband Thomas Dutch. She is therefore the world’s most leading specialist on Robotics, and Cybernetics.

A fitting that could be attached to the skull was designed. The fitting housed connections to the subjects Neural pathways while connecting a few arteries to a Mini turbine which kept charging a small battery which powered the whole system. With this fitting, Eye models could easily be switched out on demand with little to no problem.

The first Eye Sora created was a simple design. No overlay but just a normal looking eye. The Iris didn’t move or change shape. A small camera was hidden behind the fake Iris.

After the initial model worked perfectly, Sora began to improve on the design while adding some new features. Not before long she started to build features that were more of the James bond scene than anything else. These ‘Spy’ models were used to Thomas’ advantage.

Each Spy model was different. Though having the normal view mode, each eye had one additional mode which could be toggled on and off by blinking five times repeatedly. Additional modes included; A Laser Microphone, Night vision and Thermal vision.

The Laser Microphone required the fitting to be adapted to allow the transmitting of sound straight to the nerves that transmit hearing to the brain. But after that, it was a simple case of having the laser microphone eye installed, blink five times and you could listen in on conversations by just looking at another person.

To date, Thomas is the only one fitted with Sora’s eye.

Full Body Cybernetics.

Full body cybernetics is a treated a bit Different. In military and law use, there isn’t a case of turning someone into a metal frame like Robocop. No actuators or things like that, only Synthetic muscles, skin and organs. Also the skeleton will often be straightened with Metal so that on the surface, a Cyborg will look like a normal human, but when challenged with feats of reflexes, physical performance and strength; a Cyborg Child will have the strength and speed of 4 adults or even more. In some cases, the skin can be enhanced even more too even stand up against bullet hits.

Currently, the only know Agency to date to use this is the Social Welfare Agency in Italy.
